Things to Make and Do

Sunday Stash #23

June7

Dear fellow crafters, am I the only one who has way to many printed fabrics but not really a lot of solids? Going through my stash I have a bunch of awesome prints and a few solids, but most of the solids are quite boring. A couple of weeks ago I ran across these shot cotton and they were exactly what I was looking for: solids, but not boring because they have a great kind of “texture” and very vivid colors. Unfortunately the picture doesn’t do them justice at all, because you can’t see the different colored threads.  So I guess you just have to take my word for it when I say: they’re absolutely yummy! I think they would be perfect for the sashing of a quilt. But since I didn’t order enough yardage these pieces will probably end up as a part of some bags.

Sunday Stash #22

A quick Sunday Stash on a Monday. This is one of the prints I bought at the Dutch fabric market and ss soon as I saw the redhead on the print I had to buy it, I sooo miss my red hair :( First I thought I’d make a bag out of it but on second thought it might become my first skirt.

I know you probably all want to see some fabric shots from my new haul at the market yesterday, but I haven’t gotten around taking some pics yet. So I’ll just show you two of me new favorite prints. As soon as I saw these I new I had to have them! They reminded my so much of the little paint pots I used to have and of my eyeshadow palettes, especially the green ones (yes I’m a little make-up crazy).  I hope all of you had a great weekend, I’m off to finish my new shirt now, woohoo!

Things to do on a Saturday

April26

You could go to a fabric market with a friend…

… and buy a whole lot of stuff

You could hang out in Tony’s  yard ….

… and play Tuna’s favorite game: catch the rubber spider.

The Dutch Fabric Market was awesome! For the German readers, here are the future dates for other cities. I was totally overwhelmed with all the fabric and in the end both of us bought more fabric for garment sewing than for bag making, which was really weird. My luckiest find was Freezer Paper! This may sound strange, but you just can’t get this in Germany. I spend way too much money considering I still need to shop the U.S. online stores. Exhausted but really happy, I went back to Tony’s to play a little bit of “catch the rubber spider”. Okay, Tony played and I took the pictures but from Tuna’s point of view it doesn’t matter as long as someone throws her spider :)

This is the first Echino fabric I got and I must say I really like the linen cotton blend, I’m all for linen lately so I’m sure this won’t be the last prints I’ll get. The black one is from my Tony Stash the one with the birds I bought myself. I had a journal cover in mind when I ordered it, so I just ordered a fat quarter but something got mixed up and the seller send me a full yard! I wanted to pay for the difference but she wouldn’t let me and now it’s sitting in my shelf waiting for the right project, because I just can’t bring myself to cut into it to make “just” a journal cover.

Since I missed last weeks Sunday Stash I thought I’ll post two sets from my Tony Stash. Yes, there are still some more prints to come, my man really went shopping crazy :)

No Idea what kind of prints they are, but they’re pretty don’t you think?

They’re all fat quarters and I’m not sure what I’ll make with them, any ideas? Anyway, I hope you’re all having a great Easter weekend and I’m off now to check all your Sunday Stash post before I’m heading to the barbecue.
