On my first birthday, my mum came up with probably the kitschiest cake in the world. 31 years later, she still has to make it, even though she complains every year that I’m far too old for it. But hey, she started it right? I wish I could offer you a piece but unfortunately you guys live all so far away, so I can only show you a picture and have to share the cake with my colleagues.

Tony’s cake

So yeah, I turned 32 yesterday (or 320 if you believe Tony’s cake) , and writing down the actual number is kind of scary. Back when I was 20, I always thought I would have figured it out by 30, you know, life and such. But as it turns out you just get older but not that much wiser. I still feel like 20 in a lot of ways, just a bit more tired. I’ve lost some of my dreams on the way and gained a few new. I’m nothing like I thought I’d be, but then again that may be a good thing :)

The lovely Sina from Erase and Repeat and her winter’s rose are featured on Etsy’s top seller’s items.
So why don’t you show her some love and go and vote for her, like NOW :) If she wins, she will be featured in the gift guides and on the Etsy blog. So make go, make it happen!
And this is the lovely little winter’s rose you have to vote for. So hurry up and make the girl happy.

<rant> Yes, I said dash and not stash. I started cutting the fabric for the mermaid quilt a half hour ago, and while I was sitting on the floor lining up the fabric with the ruler, concentrating to get everything right, the friggin cat waited until everything was in position and ready to cut and dashed, DASHED into the fabric, every friggin single time!! So I’ll pour myself a glass of wine now and try it again tomorrow - with the cat locked in the bedroom. </rant>
The root of all evil! Don’t be fooled by the cuteness.

Lately, life isn’t that great and what do you do if you aren’t feeling that good: you shop.
But for a change I didn’t splurge on fabric, but on a new camera. I bought the Canon Eos 450D (which is called Rebel XSi in the US)! It’s my first DSLR and I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the features, but I already like it a lot!

So as soon as I understand how to use the camera you’ll hopefully see a lot of great fabric shots here on my blog.
Here is a first one: two little pincushions. Want to make some yourself?

After lurking, reading blogs and fantasising about being creative enough to actually produce something somebody else besides me will like, I finally gave in and started this blog.
I pretty much crafted on and off my whole life (drawing, scrap booking, altering furniture, you name it) and after a loooonnnngg phase of “crafting block” , I bought a sewing machine. 3 months, 7 bags, 2 PJ’s, 1 cushion, 2 neck warmers, 1 quilt and a lot of swearing later I finally feel like … well, I guess me again.
I pretty much started this blog for two reasons:
1. To motivate myself
2. To share what I learn along the way. Because if it hadn’t been for the huge online world of crafting gals, I’d probably be still slacking on my couch watching re-runs.
So even if I only inspire ONE of you out there I’ll be happy.
Nothing else left to say besides: Happy crafting!
